Skin and Hair Tips during Covid Pandemic

COVID & Dermatology

2020 has brought everyone around the world to a stop because of the ongoing covid pandemic. The novel coronavirus has caused multiple hurdles and challenges to common people and the scientific world. My sincere prayers to people who lost their lives due to the disease.

Just like front line warriors, Skin is the front line defence against external factors and infections.Wearing a mask and washing hands have become the crucial steps to reduce the spread of this virus. In doing so, many suffer from skin conditions due to repeated usage of masks and sanitizers. Due to propaganda of immunity boosters or natural therapy, some even suffered from mild to severe drug reactions as well. Damaged skin can increase the risk of COVID infection.

Few issues encountered due to safety precautions against coronavirus are :

1. Friction or indentations due to masks and face shields.

2. Hand eczema or dry skin due to repeated use of sanitizer.

3. Acneiform eruptions due to masks (maskne).

4. Drug reactions (either due to medical therapy or alternative medicine usage like ayurvedic or homeopathy without Doctor’s supervision).

5. Skin infections (due to immunosuppression).

6. Hair fall (due to stress).

7. Vitamin D Deficiency ( due to staying indoors) etc.

It is important that we stick to these safety precautions to fight against this virus to curb the spread and for protection of humanity. It is also important to remember that with simple measures, above mentioned dermatological conditions can be avoided.
